



The village is set in the Fenouillédes, in a verdant valley,
in
the foothills of the
Pyrenees at 450 meters,
equidistant between Carcassonne and Perpignan , between
mountains and plain.
The large forest Boucheville with old trees to an impressive height, is
less than 5kms.
The aera has recently been made famous by the channel 4 production of
Chateau Monty in St
Martin de Fenouillédes.
The Mediterranean coast is about 50 minutes by car and the aera is of
great historical interest with Cathare castles, the mystery
of
Rennes le Château and
many museums of prehistory in Europe.
Activities:
Fosse boast a
large open air
swimming pool (open in summer
french
school holidays) and an all weather tennis court, both of wich can be
used free of charge.
Boules at summer evenings on the terrain de pétanque.
Good local restaurants within a half hour drive offer excellent value
and quality with specialities such as wild boar and cassoulet on the
menu. Wonderful restaurants at the coast specialise in local fish
dishes with all the colour and flavour of the Mediterranean.
Many good wine caves in the aera.
Favourite sporting activities
include white water rafting, canyoning
and canoeing in mountain lakes and rivers, horse riding, rock climbing
, mountain bicycle.
Nearer to the coast there are various theme parks and all the usual
coastal pursuits.
For walkers the great hiking trail GR10 and 36 through the valley.
Here in the foothills birdwatcher and wild flower enthusiasts have the
opportunity to meander along marked footpaths untouched by time. Rare
and unusual
butterflies abound.

St Paul de Fenouillet (20 minutes

, filling station, banks etc.

on the Côte Vermeille favoured by artists due to the stunning
light and scenery.
Salvadore Dali Museum- just over
the border in Spain.
Andorra- drive up through the high
Pyrennees to visit the tiny
pincipality with a range of duty free goods as prices that
will astound you.
Tautavel- see the prehistoric man
reputed to be the oldest man in
Europe.
Carcassonne- Medieaval walled city.
